But is this word itself suffering from the inequalities it allegedly eschews? Lets take a closer inspection of this word 'Feminism' and name its semantic values.

Firstly, the leading part of the term 'Femin-' makes clear why Feminism is concerned less with equality for males and females than it is with female aggrandizement; ie. 'Femin-' focusses squarely on the ego-ontology of woman without semantic reference to the phenomenon of inequality for both sexes, ie. it does not refer to the masculine.

To back this emphasis, ask any "feminist" what equality means and they will usually respond by stating first and foremost 'what women want', ie. desired opportunities for females. Only secondly might some mention be made of
the inequalities faced by men, children, elderly, ethnic groups etc., if it is made at all. The title femin-ism is therefore not inclusive. Furthermore, like that now disused term 'man-kind' as a reference to both genders, Feminism claims to represent both women's and men's needs for equality within the gender specific 'fem'. One should not be surprised to learn that increasing numbers of women are rejecting this pre-modern terminology in favor of "equalitist", "egalitarian" or "equal rights
activist" etc., as these terms not laden with gender bias.

Don't get conned by Feminism's euphemism of equality. Like the ego-needy Narcissus of Greek Myth the feminist movement is overwhelmingly about "what a women want"; it is a gender narcissistic movement. Or to put it in terms of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV, 'The Narcissistic Personality has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations'.

With few exceptions, the phenomenology of feminist activity through the last 30 years perfectly matches the semantic focus of 'femin-
ism' outlined above.

Words are not only what we choose them to mean (although that is one aspect), because they also have a life of their own, apart from the
speaker; i.e. we need to remember that we don't just make words up or ever have them fully under control and that they are independent
powers which have power over us. They are personal presences which have whole mythologies, genders, genealogies, etymologies, histories, and vogues, complete with their own guarding, blaspheming, creating, deceiving and annihilating effects. This aspect of words transcends their nominalistic definitions, femin-ism included. For this reason we can
overlook the proclamation that Feminism can mean a thousand different things to a thousand different people, i.e. whilst one can argue the
variety of ideas which attach themselves to this term 'Feminism', the term itself has incontrovertible semantic referents.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
